Bands Named After Movies

Even though it's been more than 20 years since its 1988 release, Heathers is the movie that just keeps on giving. Starring Winona Ryder, Christian Slater, and Shannen Doherty, the dark comedy has inspired Halloween costumes around the world, a great bar in the East Village, and tons of subsequent flicks (including Mean Girls). And as of recently, it's also the namesake of one of our new favorite bands.

Comprised of two sisters, the Irish duo Heathers might not share too much with the cult classic film--no snarkiness here-- but still, it got us thinking about all the other groups borrowing their moniker from famous movies. Who knows? Maybe they'll inspire your next Netflix night...or at the very least, your hump day playlist. From Groundhog Day to The Wild One, check out our favorites in the gallery, and let us know yours on Facebook!
