This $3 Conditioner Is The Only Thing That Tames My Frizzy Hair

Don’t sleep on this

by Bailey Calfee

Friends don’t let friends miss out on all the cool, under-the-radar things they know about, like which little-known beauty brand is low-key making the best highlighter around. And because we consider our readers to be like friends, we gather together all our best finds in our Don’t Sleep On This series. Check in every week to see what things we can’t wait to share with you.

If there’s one thing you should know about my hair, it’s that it’s incredibly frizzy. And if there’s one thing you should know about me, as a person, it's that I don’t spend much money on… literally anything, except hair products. My hair products are the only luxury I really afford myself because I really need them to work. And so if I'm not spending half my paycheck on something for my hair, that means that (a) it's super-effective and (b) it is worth way more than its price tag. Which, in the case of my favorite conditioner, is only three dollars. Really!

Before I found the Brandless Green Tea & Aloe Moisturizing Conditioner, I’d tried basically every other brand on the market, with hardly any luck. I purchased more leave-in conditioners, oils, sprays, and hair masks than I would like to admit, and I can’t think of one that has actually done all that much for me. Some of those products make me think that my curse of frizzy hair had been fixed, only to leave me dealing with major puffiness once I walked outside into the humid New York air.

But then I was introduced to the wonderland that is the Brandless beauty section by my girlfriend, who is the only person I know who cares about hair more than me. Per her suggestion, I added this conditioner to my cart. (The rest of my cart was filled with snacks, because I’m a sucker for snacks, and Brandless snacks are to die for, but that’s another story.)

My hopes weren't that high, but I was running low on conditioner anyway, so it couldn’t hurt. Also, I mean… it was three dollars.

And now, this three dollar conditioner has changed my entire life. After one use, I noticed a huge difference in my hair’s frizz level: Instead of being fuzzy, it was sleek and shiny. Immediately. Gone were the stray strands of hair that made their appearance at the slightest hint of rain (seriously, my hair used to signal an oncoming storm with more precision than a weatherman). My hair now looks like I actually spent time styling it when I curl it, instead of abandoning any form of structure upon my exit from air conditioning.

This magic is likely because of the conditioner's main ingredients: aloe, which is intensely moisturizing, and green tea extract, which has “invigorating antioxidant properties.” And, per the website, this conditioner will work on all hair types, including chemically and color-treated strands. Plus, it’s free of parabens, phthalates, gluten, and silicone—and it’s vegan. So, it’s basically made of pure goodness.

Oh, and did I mention that it’s $3? Because: It. Is. Three. Dollars. (!!!)
