best dressed: cfda awards

the winners weren’t just the designers.

by rebecca willa davis

There were plenty of winners at last night's CFDA Awards--Proenza Schouler took home the prize for Womenswear Designer of the year, 3.1 Phillip Lim got Accessories Designer of the Year, Suno was named Swarovski Womenswear Designer of the Year, and Pamela Love won Swarovski Accessories Designer of the Year, to name a few.

But it wasn't just during the actual show that there were major winners. Also coming up big? Yellow--we saw it on everyone from Kerry Washington to Jessica Stam to Hailee Steinfeld. There were also plenty of menswear-inspired looks, whether it was Dree Hemingway's Annie Hall-esque suit or Greta Gerwig's glamorous white jumpsuit.

In fact, though the night was technically all about the designers, there were plenty of their designs worth celebrating. Here are our eight favorites--let us know who you loved in the comments below.

Elizabeth Olsen in The Row, Mary-Kate Olsen in vintage Issey Miyake

Rooney Mara in Calvin Klein

Hailee Steinfeld in Suno

Greta Gerwig in Band of Outsiders (with Scott Sternberg of Band of Outsiders)

Ashley Madekwe in Cushnie et Ochs

Kerry Washington in Jason Wu

Jourdan Dunn in Calvin Klein

Erin Wasson in Alexander Wang
