I was never a cheerleader. As a person born with zero balance whatsoever, being tossed 20 feet in the air with flailing limbs never appealed to me. What did appeal to me, however, were the shiny pleated uniforms all cheerleaders were allowed to wear on game days. That stifling, sticky polyester somehow managed to look glamorous, at least in comparison to my dull white and gray wool-blend Catholic school kilt. Nowadays, I would never covet those skimy uniforms.
Cue Teen Wolf star Holland Roden, who somehow managed to make me change my perspective. The Paper London cropped short set she wore to HBO's The Leftovers premiere last night was absolutely stunning. The high lines, deep pleats, and red neoprene gave some severity and visual dimension to the look, juxtaposing Holland's angelic features. It's a look we can all recreate, just so long as we all promise not to start chanting in unison, O-K-A-Y?
