It might not be part of Netflix’s massive upcoming slate, but we’re betting there’s at least one executive from the streaming service who just watched the new trailer for Claws and wishes to dear god it was. The TNT show, about manicurists who get into some seriously seedy business, looks like an insanely good time, with Niecy Nash leading her motley crew. The trailer makes the show look like Bloodline meets Spring Breakers, with a Southern Gothic vibe that bursts with neon colors. It also looks like it’s going to make stars out of its cast, which includes Judy Reyes, Carrie Preston, Jenn Lyon, and Karrueche Tran. All of them get scenery to chew, and they don’t waste the opportunity.
TNT describes the show as a “wickedly funny meditation on female badness which follows the rise of five diverse and treacherous Florida manicurists in the traditionally male world of organized crime.” Nash plays the owner of a Florida hair salon at the center of the show and says that her money laundering days are over. But based on the clip, it looks like her days of murdering people and lighting the corpses on fire are just beginning. Claws is being executive produced by Rashida Jones and premieres on June 11.
