DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER

all that glitters…is your 3-D nail polish?

by liza darwin

Marilyn Monroe first crooned her hit song "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend" in the 1953 film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, where she namedropped the holy trinity of jewelers- Cartier, Harry Winston, and Tiffany's- all in one verse. And if the lines outside the brand's 5th Avenue stores today are any indication, clearly not much has changed in the past 60 years.

But if you want to look expensive without actually blowing out your bank account, China Glaze has a solution. Just in time for the holiday season, the lacquer company is debuting "Eye Candy," a set of six sparkly shades inspired by Miss Monroe herself.

Shimmery nails are nothing new, but this collection uses different shapes and sizes of glitter combined with an already-glitzy formula for a 3-D effect. With twinkly, light-reflecting hues like gold, red, deep purple and graphite, all it takes is one coat to get major results (seriously, everyone in the office was impressed, and that's really saying something). They're fool-proof, cheap, and will go with pretty much any party dress.

And while the shades won't hit shelves for a few more weeks, that's okay. Get a first look at the collection below and use it as an excuse to start planning your holiday outfits around your nail polish.
