Diet Cig Make Coloring Cool Again With New Music Video
Go outside the lines
Diet Cig just dropped their debut album, Swear I'm Good At This. It's punky pop with a feminist twist, playful and earnest at the same time. "Maid of the Mist," the album's fourth track, is all about the anxiety of crushing hard on someone and all those goddamn feelings that come with it. "I want to hold a séance for every heart I've broken," Alex Luciano sings, "Put them all in a room and say, 'Get over it.'" Same, girl! Same.
The duo takes that playfulness to a new level with its Mazzy Bell-directed lyric video. The innocence of the drawings makes for quite the cheeky contrast to the track's lyrics. Just imagine all the pages used in the making of this video stuck to a refrigerator. What a portrait of confused youth that'd paint. Regardless, it's the most uniquely lyrical video to come across our desks in a hot minute. Make America use crayons again because they, like crying in this song, are therapeutic.
