This Spring Beauty Line Is Pink With A Side Of Punk

The enchanted garden awaits

While florals for spring aren't necessarily groundbreaking, it's no less exciting when beauty products that can whisk us off to an enchanted garden land on our desks. Such is Dolce & Gabbana's newest Rosa makeup collection celebrating the rose—the eternal flower, and a symbol of femininity, love, beauty, and sensuality. Consisting of eight shades of lipstick, a luminous blush, an eyeshadow palette, three shades of nail lacquer, and one cool cream eye color, the collection is an ode to springtime and the abundance of bold blooms that come with it. The beauty line is rounded out with a fragrance that is a must-have purely for the prettiness factor: The bottle features an architectural cap sculpted in the shape of a rose.

In addition to being an ode to the timeless blossom, the makeup line zooms in on the various shades of pink that make up a rose garden. Contrasting pops of dark colors and metallics perfectly counterbalance the wash of pretty pastels and provide a welcome edge for the girl who likes her pink with a side of punk.

The Dolce Rosa lipsticks' pink-centric matte formulas are creamy to apply and feature a velvety finish—the "Dolce Nudo," a soft nude-pink, and "Dolce Excelsa," a radiant crimson pink, shades stood out for their ageless appeal. The cheek color features a hint of fuchsia that's meant to mimic a blush from a "loved one's kiss on the cheek" and universally flatters all skin tones. The limited-edition eyeshadow quad is one for playtime; three colors—nude, fuchsia, and black—continue the matte effect of the lips and, together with the pearl white shade, create an explosion of light and intensity for the eyes.

The cream eye color is another standout with a creamy formula that can be applied with your fingertips in a can't-miss-me metallic shade. The nail lacquers subtly complement each other and can mixed-and-matched for major nail art; combine the two shades of pink for an ombre effect meant to mimic a rose petal, and accent the nail half-moons with a touch of the black formula. The collection even comes with a nail top coat for the ultimate matte finish that brings the beauty look full circle.

The Dolce Rosa Excelsa fragrance is an homage to the essence of rose and its multifaceted boldness. The scent bursts with an explosion of white amaryllis, African Dog rose (used for the first time in perfumery and captured using a sustainable high-tech process that doesn't require cutting the petals), and Turkish rose, and seduces with the more subtle notes of neroli leaves and papaya flowers. Balanced by musky notes, Cashmeran, and sandalwood, the fragrance leaves a trail of earthy tones and sultry spices and helps capture the old-world appeal of a rose-infused perfume in an entirely modern way.
