A Sight For Hazy Eyes: Dolores Haze

clothes fit for a Lolita

by veronica radyuk

Anyone seeking to infuse a bit of darkness into their feminine style should look to brand Dolores Haze as each piece seamlessly juxtaposes these two distinct elements. Designer Samantha Giordano named her line after the iconic and rebellious Vladimir Nabokov character in his novel, Lolita, and it perfectly epitomizes the fictional free spirit through the medium of apparel.

Dolores Haze is all about upholding the idea of girl power—perceiving confidence as an essential act of rebellion in a society that demeans women's worth by appearances. The brand, which debuted with a Spring/Summer 2014 collection at New York Fashion Week, continues to incorporate patterns and silhouettes reminiscent of the '70s (think stripes and turtlenecks) into each season's offerings. More recently, Giordano has introduced python to the line, adding a sleek element and texture to the brand's aesthetic.
