Our 15 Favorite Looks From Tonight’s Emmys

Thank the fashion gods for Zoë Kravitz

by Taylor Bryant

We’re living in the era of peak television. You have access to hundreds of shows with a simple swipe or tap or press of a button. It’s an exciting time to be alive and, as a result, it’s an exciting time to witness this year’s 69th Primetime Emmy Awards and its accompanying fashion.

There were a couple of themes present. Like Disney princess looks served up by Yara Shahidi, Millie Bobby Brown, and Kiernan Shipka. There were some celebrities willing to push the sartorial borders, like Zoë Kravitz appearing in a charming feathered moment and Tessa Thompson showing out in a rainbow Rosie Assoulin number. Suits were also present—in dress and pant form—surprisingly by Reese Witherspoon and not so surprisingly by Evan Rachel Wood.

Like the shows currently streaming on your Chromecast and small screens, this year offered up an eclectic mix in terms of fashion. Click through to see some of our favorites.

This is Zoë Kravitz’s first time attending the Emmys, and she definitely knows how to make an entrance. Her feathered Dior Haute Couture gown was our favorite of the night by far.

When in doubt, go for tulle like Yara Shahidi. The sequin embroidery and ruffled sleeves of the Prada gown add some pizzazz.

Kiernan Shipka got the fairy-tale memo and looked beyond adorable in cinched Miu Miu.

Leave it to Tessa Thompson to bring some much-needed color (and vibrance!) to the red carpet, courtesy of Rosie Assoulin. (Side note: Celebrities, take better advantage of the genius that is Rosie Assoulin.)

Never grow up, Millie Bobby Brown. Especially when you’re wearing the Calvin Klein ballerina dress of our 13-year-old dreams.

Tracee Ellis Ross always manages to find the most unique dresses (in this case from Chanel Haute Couture), and make them red carpet appropriate. Sequins, silver, and feathers? Your fav could (and probably would) never.

Sarah Paulson kept the silver streak going in Carolina Herrera straight off the runway.

We definitely like the idea of a suit dress on the red carpet, and we definitely like Reese Witherspoon in this Stella McCartney one paired with David Webb jewelry.

Evan Rachel Wood is sticking to her suit resolution. This award show found the actress in a Moschino all-white number because eff your labor day rules.

Adding Shailene Woodley’s forest green velvet Ralph Lauren dress to our fall mood board as we type.

Sarah Hyland, too, because if you look closely, you’ll notice her Zac Posen dress is dotted with falling leaves.

Okay, Lea Michelle is the last one we’re adding because her deep purple Elie Saab gown is close to perfect. Bonus points for the belt and pockets!

Mandy Moore may look like a feather duster, but dammit if she isn’t the most fashionable tiered feather duster out there in Carolina Herrera.

Viola Davis can get away with wearing any color on the red carpet. This stunning burnt orange Zac Posen gown is no exception.

Vanessa Kirby stole the show in her role as Princess Margaret on The Crown. She, similarly, shone on the red carpet in this soft pink Marchesa gown.
