The Weirdest Accessories We Saw At The Fall 2018 Shows
We’ll take one of each, thanks
After a month of back-to-back fashion shows, Fashion Month has finally come to an end. While we’ve gained some insight on the mainstream trends to look forward to next fall, we also have to stop and appreciate the weird stuff with which we're now obsessed.
While the ready-to-wear runways are inherently less wild than those of couture, there are still plenty of unconventional (and okay, not exactly practical) pieces coming down the catwalk—especially when it comes to accessories. But, at the end of the day, these are the pieces to embrace and be inspired by.
Below, we rounded up the coolest accessories we saw during the Fall 2018 shows in New York, London, Milan, and Paris. From the tinsel shoes at Ports 1961 to Dolce & Gabbana’s piano bag to basically everything at Gucci, check out the accessories-to-know from this past month.
The custom half-rim, lenses-less glasses at Chromat were designed by Kerin Rose Gold of A-Morir. While they may not be functional, we’re totally here for them. (Also of note: The pool noodle is back.)
We're swooning over these cascading pearl ear cuffs at Prabal Gurung.
And these colorful, sculptural, fuzzy masterpieces, also at Prabal Gurung.
We’re going to be extra-warm next fall, thanks to the multicolored knit balaclavas and heavy duty elbow-length gloves at Calvin Klein.
Alexander Wang debuted some fuzzy-yet-semi-invisible heels and bedazzled sandwich bags.
And, more importantly, brought back the claw clip.
Thanks to Jeremy Scott, moon boots are back—this time, with an alien twist.
We’re still here for the belt bag and fanny pack, which was seen all over the Fall 2018 runways, but we’re also pretty excited for the bag necklace à la Marc Jacobs.
The mini bag not your thing? Fear not, as Victoria Beckham and her ginormous slouchy tote bags are here to save the day.
These may be for fall, but we're dreaming of these festive sneakers at Stella Jean for summer.
We’re loving these two-toned, oversized aviators at Ashish.
These tinsel beauties at Ports 1961 are the ultimate party shoe.
Okay, these are technically Spring 2018 (as Burberry shows in a see now, buy now format), but how amazing are these rainbow sneakers? Lucky for us, they're available for pre-order now.
We all need this pink, bedazzled Tom Ford Pussy Power handbag in our lives, stat.
Christopher Kane brought the ugly-cute grandpa sneaker trend to a whole new level.
Honestly, it was really hard to pick our favorite accessories from the Gucci show, because everything was incredible. But these bedazzled grandpa sneakers? Be still, our hearts.
Also, we adore this kind of confusing floral print Yankees backpack.
But ultimately, the non-functional human head replica replacing the handbag altogether really wins.
What’s that you’re carrying there? A casual Dolce & Gabbana piano?
TFW you love your Dolce & Gabbana bag so much, you wear it in glasses, earring, and hat form.
We’re pretty excited that Jeremy Scott brought back the Jackie O pillbox hat at Moschino.
Can we take a moment to appreciate these excellent Delpozo sequined sock-shoes?
As well as these flaming wedges at Prada.
We’re loving this mixed-and-matched shoe situation that happened all over the Sacai runway.
More proof that the wedge is back via Thom Browne, but this time, it’s a wedge-pump hybrid.
We’re loving all of the pop-y, bright, and oversized jewelry and eyewear at Balenciaga.
