first look: acne resort

From skinny jeans with silver patches to slouchy jersey dresses, ACNE is the ultimate authority on what clothes the fashion tribes will turn out in next season. This time around, get ready to pile on the layers- and lots of them.

The Swedish brand showed boxy jackets, A-line dresses, and modest pencil skirts in fabrics like suede, taffeta and denim for Resort 2012. Left alone, this look would scream "'50s housewife" (um...no). But ACNE's given the styles a downtown edge by pairing the dresses and skirts with...pants.

It's simple, it's cool, and it's easy in a "I just rolled out of bed and threw on my Sunday dress over my ripped jeans" kind of way. Who knew that waking up late could be so fashion-forward?
