Gorillaz Surprise Release “The Apprentice” Ahead Of New Album

Once you pop…

by Hayden Manders

Not even a week has passed between new Gorillaz material. Since breaking their seven-year hiatus back in March with a handful of new songs, the virtual band has been consistently dropping bits and pieces of what's to come on Humanz.

"The Apprentice" is our latest taste of new material. It's a bop, yes, but angry and brimming with self-doubt. Rag‘n’Bone Man and Ray BLK lend their talents to the track, as does Zebra Katz who drives the song home with a sinister turn. Come through with that string section, cartoon boys!

This marks the fifth song to be lifted from Humanz, but don't go thinking you've heard the majority of the album. The Gorillaz are coming back with a behemoth of an album, clocking in around 19 songs. Go big or don't go at all, right?

Humanz drops April 28.
