Graphic Eye Makeup Reigns Supreme At Paris Fashion Week

The classic cat eye gets some interesting reinterpretations for Spring 2019

by Jenna Igneri

We’re only three days into Paris Fashion Week, but already we’re pretty pleased with what we’re seeing. While the “all or nothing” makeup trend (where brands are showing either a completely bare face or really over-the-top makeup) is still going strong, Paris collections have also brought about some pretty interesting eye makeup.

While the majority of models at Christian Dior sported a kohl-lined lower rim, a select few were painted with magic marker-like streaks from around the side of their eyes out to their temples. Scattered amongst the bare faces and navy-lined lips at Maison Margiela were a few hand-drawn, dripping graphic teardrops emerging from one eye. Models at Dries Van Noten received a bold swipe of black pigment across their lids, directing all attention upward. And, last but not least, the girls at Rochas wore a graphic cat eye, featuring a triangular, hollowed-out wingtip.

What does this all mean? That, come next spring, we’ll be getting pretty creative with our eyeliners.

Take a closer look at the best runway eyes of Paris Fashion Week so far, below.
