Anticipation for Grimes’ follow-up to her 2012 breakthrough album, Visions, has reached fever pitch, and although no official release date has been confirmed, it’s expected to drop this fall. As a sign that the album is near, Grimes has just announced the “Rhinestone Cowgirls” tour that will take her hypnotic and often transcendent live show across North America this fall.
Grimes, who opened for Lana Del Rey this past summer on the “Endless Summer” tour, will take on headliner duties and has tapped newcomer Nicole Dollenganger as her opening act. Dollenganger was a relative unknown until Grimes announced a few weeks ago that the Canadian singer/songwriter was the first act in her new Eerie Organization artist collective, who will release her first album, Natural Born Losers, on October 9. You can watch her brand new video for the track “Angels of Porn,” below.
On Instagram, Grimes revealed that she’ll be releasing new tracks from her album before the tour begins on October 26 in her hometown of Vancouver. “Also it’s kinda my fault for wanting to make sure the album was done before booking these shows so some aren’t all ages due to venue unavailability. doing all ages shows in the spring in bigger venues Re: new stuff --- will drop some trax b4 tour. still mixing and working on vids cuz I’d like it all to be perfect 4 yall ....... -----> Ps non American dates r in the process of existing,” she wrote.
