Gwen Stefani Just Released The Girl-Power Jam Of 2014

“spark the fire.”

by Yasmeen Gharnit

Sure, she has a fashion line and mentors young artists on The Voice, but if we had to choose one thing to count on Gwen Stefani for, it would be to create kickass, empowering songs that get stuck in our head for days. Last month, the former No Doubt frontwoman gave us "Baby Don't Lie"—a synth-splashed dance track that basically fused together any and every genre imaginable. This time around, she's giving us a more streamlined song: a Pharrell-produced jam called "Spark The Fire."

Filled with her trademark riotous chants (B-A-N-A-N-A-S), beats that make you want to jump-jump, and lyrics like "Let's go hard, let's go hard / Hard as can go / It is time for the girl species to grow," it's a feminist anthem in the making. Like we've said before, 2014 has been a huge year for women in music and we can't wait to see how Stefani and the rest of the pop girl-gang (fronted by Charli XCX, Lorde, Taylor Swift, and Miley Cyrus) take over 2015.

Watch the newly-released video below and get transported to a pizza-filled cartoon universe, where floating Pharrell heads, emojis, and word bubbles crowd underground dance parties.
