The Trailer For Heath Ledger’s Documentary Will Break Your Heart

Nine years have passed since the tragic and unexpected death of Heath Ledger. It's a loss that this industry will never recover from, years later continuing to honor the great actor. Today, SPIKE has unveiled the trailer for I Am Heath Ledger, a documentary about the man they describe as "a born director," "a fearless actor," and "an unforgettable artist."

The film is meant to provide an "intimate portrait" of the star and contains never-before-seen footage from Ledger's personal home videos. Working with cameras was more than a hobby for the actor, as pointed out by the close friends that he left behind like model Christina Cauchi. "There were always cameras around. A video camera or a Polaroid camera, or the film camera," she says. "That's the only way I think of him, with the camera in hand."

Given that today would have been Ledger's 38th birthday, the timing for this tribute could not have been better. I Am Heath Ledger officially premieres on May 17. Watch the whole trailer in the video, below.
