who makes the best donuts in america?

by faran krentcil

Apparently, it's National Donut Day - an endeavor we're fairly sure was invented by the good folks of Dunkin' (who are offering a "free donut with DD beverage" special today). But the announcement - which of course we first saw on Twitter - spurred a pretty good office debate: Where are the best donuts in America?

Almost every NYLON Editor emailed their picks, including Donut Plant's experimental foodie flavors in Manhattan, Brooklyn favorite Pies n' Thighs, Portland's zany cult institution Voodoo Donuts, Massachusetts mainstay Kane's in Saugus, and BabyCakes gluten free versions, which are beyond yummy and now even available at Disney World - no joke. Our art director Nick Bloom-Scaglione also insisted that Krispy Kreme was number one, and... well... we definitely didn't argue. But although it was nice to know that even our fashion editors eat donuts sometimes, our search still felt incomplete.

That's where you come in. What's the best donut shop in America? You tell us. Leave your picks in the comments section, and don't forget to be specific - as in, we need to know your favorite flavor so we can order it ourselves.
