As you probably know from our posts, Tweets, Instagrams, etc. we spent last week in Texas and it was there that we discovered a little Austin-based company called
. Now, Howler founders Chase Heard and Andy Stepania aren't blood related, but they have been best buddies since youth. The pair of outdoorsmen are avid surfers, fishermen, kayakers, and the good things that come with these pursuits. Things like fire pits, really good tequila, and pre-dawn coffee.
The bros design and craft everything they make, and it's with these passions that they put their products to the test. Their vision for Howler--and the name
--was inspired by a sound they heard on surf trips to Costa Rica: the call of the loudest animal in North America, the Howler Monkey.
Howler Brothers craft limited-run, high quality clothing that draws inspiration from the style and tradition of surfing and coastal sports. They aim to create with the timeless style of sports such as surfing and fly fishing, but update historic garment ideas with modern influence.
Two of our favorite pieces, the

(which is completely mesh), look pretty simple but their details make all the difference.
