Jakil’s New Song Is Heavy On The ’80s Vibes In The Best Possible Way

“Every Time We Talk” is it

Jakil has a huge future ahead of them. The Scottish fivesome is one of the freshest bands on the scene, but they already feel fully formed, confident in their 1980s-tinged, bright guitar pop. "Every Time We Talk" is their newest track and a fabulous introduction to their world. (It's been on repeat since it slipped into this writer's inbox a week or so ago.)

"The song is about falling for someone who's a little bit mean but keeping you keen," the band says. That makes it seem like a sad song, but its colorful production makes it sound anything but. The lyric video, premiering below in all its retro pastel glory, helps keep the mood light, too. "We're into that blend," they say, "and we're most definitely into the throwback feels." Same, Jakil.

"Every Time We Talk" is the first of four new songs the band plans to release. Fans of The 1975, your ears are in for a treat.
