Jessica Chastain Takes On The Gun Lobby In The ‘Miss Sloane’ Trailer
It’s out in December
Hillary Clinton isn’t the only woman who’ll be championing gun control this fall. In the upcoming political thriller Miss Sloane, Jessica Chastain plays a lobbyist who takes on the ultra-powerful gun lobby in an effort to pass gun control legislation. Based on the just-released first trailer, it’s another towering performance from Chastain, whose incredible range in films like Zero Dark Thirty and A Most Violent Year has already established her as one of our most versatile leading ladies.
John Madden—whose Shakespeare In Love won the Oscar in 1998—directs, with Mark Strong, Alison Pill, Michael Stuhlbarg, John Lithgow, and Sam Waterson rounding out the cast. But the star of the show is clearly Chastain, who Madden wanted for the lead as soon as he read the script.
“She has a reputation now as an actor that’s in a class—and people expect to see a level of performance from her that’s commanding and detailed and unusual,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “From tremendous strength and drive on the one hand and fragility and vulnerability on the other. And the scale on this film calls for both of those two things.”
Miss Sloane hits theaters December 9, just in time for awards season. Watch the trailer above.
