Video Premiere: Kafka Tamura’s “Bones”

perfect for hazy afternoons by the pool

by Ben Barna

After discovering vocalist Emma Dawkins on Soundcloud in 2012, musicians

Patrick

Bongers

and Gabriel

Hauser reached out to the teenage singer and recruited her to join what would become Kafka Tamura. Now, three years later, the Southampton minimalist pop trio are getting ready to release their debut album, Nothing to Everyone, on August 14 via 100% Records. The album's lead single, "Bones," is lounge-y and stylized, perfect for hazy afternoons by the pool, despite its slightly macabre lyrics. And that's exactly what's being depicted in the song's brand new video, except with a surreal twist.

"For 'Bones,‘ it’s this positive lethargy," Dawkins says, "this weird summer vibe that was distilled from the audio and put into moving pictures by our lovely film crew. It’s always exciting to see how a video can bring a totally new facet to a song and how it gives us the chance to see it from a different angle afterwards." Watch it above.
