kendall jenner’s twitter got hacked

whoa…

by Yasmeen Gharnit

No matter how mundane it's become, popular culture still loves to hate on the Kardashians and Jenners. But last night, Kendall Jenner's Twitter was hacked, proving that Kardashian hate has gone too far.

As Refinery29 points out, the sisters have hacked each other's accounts from time to time, but given the offensive subject matter of the tweets—Kendall's rumored eating disorder, a crude reference to her alleged relationship with Justin Bieber, and some truly horrifying transphobia—it's obvious that this is not just a joke between sisters. The tweets were taken down and the mentioned accounts within the hacked tweets, @ThyClerk and @fuckcynical, have been suspended. The Kardashian/Jenner camp has not publicly responded to the hack.

Celebrity hacking has been a reality since Paris Hilton's bedazzled Sidekick days, but as of late, it seems like the celebrity invasion of privacy has escalated to even more extreme proportions. Although this three-tweet hack wasn't nearly as large-scale as the celebrity nude photo leak (which Jennifer Lawrence rightly described as "a sex crime") and the Sony hacks, it is concerning that someone could so easily bypass password protection, or possibly Twitter's firewalls. Hopefully there will be repercussions for the hackers.
