Kristen Stewart And Lily-Rose Depp Star In A New Chanel Campaign Video
so couture
Kristen Stewart’s penchant for sneakers on the red carpet and Lily-Rose Depp’s weakness for bonnets make the pair seem like an unlikely choice to represent iconic fashion house Chanel. But Karl Lagerfeld has an unparalleled ability to dress his muses in Chanel couture in a way that’s modern without losing sight of the brand’s history.
Earlier today, ahead of the upcoming Mademoiselle Privé exhibition in London next month, the fashion house released a new behind-the-scenes video that takes us into the world of Chanel. Through the short clip, viewers get an insider's view into Karl Lagerfeld's creative process as he photographs his muses—Stewart, Depp, Keira Knightley, Vanessa Paradis, Stella Tennant, Lily Collins, and Julianne Moore—in the brand’s “Bijoux de Diamants” jewelry collection.
In the clip, Stewart and Depp explain what makes Lagerfeld and Chanel so great (while wearing decadent jewelry and couture, as one does). Between lounging on a super-luxe couch, Stewart explains her loyalty to Chanel as a longtime face of the brand, saying the fashion house represents “the true strength of a woman—it’s not about being loud or in your face. It’s about being subdued and knowing.”
Depp, who was recently announced as the star of Chanel’s eyewear campaign, gushed over the opportunity to work with Lagerfeld. “What’s really incredible about shooting with Karl is that he really knows how to bring out the best in someone, which then brings out the best in the clothes, which is a good relationship in that sense, and the photos always end up looking really amazing.”
