We've loved Lizzy Caplan since she was Janis Ian in Mean Girls, and we're really pretty excited about her new Showtime series Masters of Sex, where she plays Virginia Johnson, a real life pioneer in the field of human sexuality.

We think her role may have given her a little insight in subtle sexuality (not the band, the style of dressing), because her blue velvet Alberta Ferretti dress is demure and flirty at the same time. Velvet can be a hard fabric to pull off and not look like Clarissa on Clarissa Explains it All (not that there's anything wrong with dressing like Clarissa), but Caplan nails it. Her pointy black pumps and dramatic red lip help seal the deal.
