LOOKBOOK: SHAKUHACHI

what happens when retro goes futuristic?

by ali hoffman

Whether inspired by '70s beachwares or globe-trotting fashionistas, designer Jessie White's Sydney-based label Shakuhachi always maintains a strong sense of femininity.

Thankfully this is also the case with label's latest Cruise collection. Dubbed 'I Want Candy,' White credits Roman Coppola's film CQ (an homage to sci-fi films of the 1960s) as the motivation behind the range. The result includes everything from fresh, minty metallic miniskirts, to lacy shift dresses, and kaleidoscope-print jumpers. And though the intergalactic influence may sound bold, the retro-vintage element keeps it cool and subtle.

Check out our favorite looks from the collection below, and see if you can spot some major NYLON spring '13 trends (hint hint: new romantics, ultra-cropped tops, etc.)
