LOOKBOOK: TEXTILE ELIZABETH & JAMES

mary-kate and ashley olsen know their denim.

There was a time when Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were best symbolized by massive Starbucks cups, oversize sunglasses, and layers upon layers of black fabric. But just as we've gotten over some particularly aggressive fashion moments in our lives (bloomers, anyone?), the twins have also evolved, sartorially speaking. The Row has become go-to for ultra-classy blazers and bags, while Elizabeth & James is reliable for urban-girly staples.

And then there's Textile Elizabeth and James, which is about as far as you can go from boho-chic maxi-skirts and fringe bucket bags. The denim-and-tees line delivers cool-without-looking-like-you're-trying pieces season after season. Spring 2013 is no different: There are just-distressed-enough flares, second-skin white skinnies, tie-dyed button-downs, and even a sweatshirt that proudly proclaims "HIPPIE" across its front.

The collection has something for everyone, without feeling like it's got no sense of direction. (We'd describe it as '70s urban hippie.) And if you wear your favorite item whilst carrying around a venti? That's cool, too.
