we love luella!

and we have some ideas about her marc by marc jacobs debut.

The day we learned that Luella Bartley's eponymous line, Luella, was being discontinued ranks as one of the worst fashion-related days of our lives. Bartley's irreverent, kitschy, and fun designs are everything a NYLON girl wants to wear, and we sort of considered her our unofficial mascot (and our dream BFF). (Fact: There is a Luella sticker on our computer that we cannot get off, nor do we want to.) Since her line's shuttering, it's safe to say that Fashion Week has been a lot less fun.

The day we heard that Bartley would be taking up the helm as the design director of our other favorite brand, Marc by Marc Jacobs, well, it was the best day ever! We're already head-over-tails for Marc by Marc Jacobs' quirky and cute aesthetic, and with Bartley's input the line is only going to get better. We can already imagine the ruffled, bright, and subversive designs... and our credit card bill growing and growing as we buy them all up for ourselves.

In honor of Bartley's debut at Marc by Marc Jacobs fall '14 runway show tonight, we're remembering all our favorite Luella looks from the past, like the black heart cut-out dress during from the spring '10 collection , or the insanely cool pieced together garden dresses from her spring '09 line. Just gathering the images for the gallery has made us a little giddy--imagine how we're going to feel after the Marc by Marc Jacobs show!
