Lyz Olko Made The Leather Jacket Of Our Sci-Fi Dreams

Keep NYFW weird

As a designer, it's super important to find innovative ways to stand out at NYFW. For a limited amount of time, all eyes are on you and the body of work that you have devoted days, months, and, maybe even, years of your life conceptualizing.

In the midst of the madness, indie designer Lyz Olko teamed up with artist Jeanette Hayes to create the "cybernetic heroine" jacket, and it is out of this world. If you are fluent in all things weird, this piece will speak your language; it's like sweet music to our multi-pierced ears.

Of the collaboration, Hayes said the following:

Lyz has been a dear friend of mine for many years, so as soon as she asked me if I wanted to paint on a leather jacket for her, I was totally on board. The only part about being a 16-year-old street punk that I enjoyed was painting my leather jackets. I am also a fan of the sci-fi genre so this collab was great.

Another cool thing about Olko is that her clothing brand is laser-focused on practicing sustainable methods of production. Every piece is made out of recycled materials that are cut and sewn between New York City and Los Angeles. When Olko isn't busy making the world of fashion a better place, she spends her time cooking vegan meals, crafting zines, and taking dope photos.

Olko is kicking off her Spring/Summer '17 NYFW presentation tonight at Elvis Guesthouse from 8 to 10pm. Feast your eyes on model Sabrina Fuentes rocking this badass jacket from every angle in the gallery, below.
