Checklist January 14
today’s daily dose of inspiration starring marc jacobs, kanye west, and blood orange.
Welcome to The Checklist,
NYLON's
new morning wake-up call. Whether you're looking for a little outfit inspiration, a new song to play as you drink that first cup of the coffee, or that one bit of news you can't leave the house without knowing, we've got you covered. We'll be updating every day during the week, every single early morning (New York time, natch), with a different editor--and sometimes special It Girl guests--curating the picks, so you have no reason
not
to make it your first-thing-to-check-the-moment-you-turn-on-your-phone. Still not enough early inspiration for you? Then head to Instagram--we'll be using the hashtag #NYLONDaily as a place for
NYLON
readers to show off the things that inspire them, and we want you to contribute!

The Look:
Marc Jacobs fall '06
In my dream life, this is what I wear all winter long. Forget classic interpretations of layering, I want to do it the Marc Jacobs way and pile on short pants over long ones, silks with wools, and a hat so giant it nearly swallows my head. Comfortable, chic, casual... all buzzwords in on my list of fashion dos.
The Face
: Butter London 3 Free Nail Lacquer in Big Smoke
It's the middle of winter, and I've got the moody blues, hence my nail polish color choice. The perk about this Butter hue is that despite being dark, it has a little shimmer to it so that your blues don't get the best of you.
The News
:
Yeezy went after an 18-year-old at a chiropractor's office who was using racial slurs to describe Kim Kardashian and West. No charges have been pressed as of yet.
The Inspiration
:
The Talented Mr. Ripley
I spend the past weekend binge watching movies on Netflix, and this psychological thriller with Matt Damon, Jude Law, and Gwyneth Paltrow has to be one of the best flicks streaming now. Aside from the general hunky-ness of the cast, the film is enthralling and the backdrop of '50s Italy is truly daydream inducing. My favorite shot is of Paltrow in an entire leopard outfit--basically what I wish I was wearing today.
The Song:
"You're Not Good Enough" -- Blood Orange
It's a sort of sad dance jam, which to me perfectly reflects a Tuesday mood: happy it's not Monday, but sad it's still so far from the weekend.
