Miguel Takes Us On Another Visual Adventure In “Waves”

Fresh off of his incredible Michael Jackson tribute performance at the 2016 Grammys, Miguel has released a music video for the remixed version of "Waves." The track is from his third studio album Wildheart. While the original video transported us to a groovy house party, complete with trippy vibes and vibrant colors, this new version does nothing of the sort.

Featuring rapper Travi$ Scott, this video takes you on the kind of visual adventure that seems to be relatively absent from contemporary music. Its intentionally less-than-stellar quality adds a more personal touch, making the unique approach both refreshing and nostalgic.

Sometimes, the best messages are those painted with an aesthetic of simplicity and clarity. Here, Miguel evangelizes to us through the video's intro, where the he says, "The majority accept the chaos, obey the fear, and curate pain. You know you can die. Why not live?" We don't know about you, but that monologue definitely motivates us to face life with unapologetic fervor.
