Aside from a kiss here, and an embrace there, the on screen couple of the 1990s—agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder—kept their long-simmering romance fairly chaste. Sure, they produced a child together, but we’ve never seen the characters, played by Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, really…you know…go at it. That is, until now.
Ahead of the revival of the X-Files series, Anderson and Duchovny reprised their roles for a quick skit on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that delved into the deep divide between the ’90s and today. AOL dial-up, old-school cell phones, and more were up for lampooning, as was the fact that Scully and Mulder always seemed to keep their loving somewhere off screen.
But that was then and this is now. Kimmel puts the couple straight, Hootie and the Blowfish provide the soundtrack, and away we go. What a time to be alive.
