nars x 3.1 phillip lim

two designers, one seriously stylin’ mani.

by Yasmeen Gharnit

Listen, we get it. It seems as if fashion designers have been pairing up with cosmetics companies to create capsule beauty collections since the dawn of time. An eyeshadow palette here, a noir-inspired lipstick there, a sparkle-infused dry shampoo....been there, done that. So when we heard that NARS was collaborating with 3.1 Phillip Lim to create a fall nail polish line, yes, we were excited, but it wasn't like we were going to skip around or anything. After all, the two brands have been working together for the past 14 seasons.

And then came the press release, complete with photos of the nine lacquers. Jaw. Drop.

Cue the Lollipop Guild, because we were ready to hop down the road and eat our words. You would too, if you saw the limited edition polishes. Inspired by "colors that exist in the shadows," the luscious jewel tone shades are quite possibly some of the best ultra-pigmented glitter varnishes on the market. And with NARS' long-lasting, high-gloss formula, they certainly deserve some beauty real estate space.

The collection, now available at NARS boutiques and online, comes to Sephora, department, and specialty stores Friday. Our favorites are Insidious and Wrong Turn, but we suggest you try them all.
