This Hack Will Change The Way You Use Netflix

secret categories for everyone!

by daniel barna

Do you ever find yourself staring blankly at Netflix's home page, aimlessly scrolling through the same dozen or so movies and television shows before finally settling on another episode of Fresh Prince? That kind of flawed decision making is a direct result of how overwhelming sifting through Netflix's sheer volume of titles can sometimes be.

Well, according to the blog What's On Netflix, there's a secret fix. Netflix lists all their titles in ultra specific micro-categories, with each category tagged by a specific, numeric code. For example, "Dark Comedies" are tagged under code "869." To access the list, all you have to do is enter the following URL: http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/XXXX, with the corresponding code as the "X" variable.

Go ahead, give it a shot. We'll wait.

Pretty cool, right?

There are dozens and dozens of categories to explore, from the rather conventional, like "Teen Dramas" and "Tearjerkers," to the more obscure, like: "Creature Features" and "Middle Eastern Movies." Luckily for us, Mashable has compiled them all into a neat little list, with their corresponding codes included. Happy browsing!
