nicki minaj to open the 2015 mtv vmas

As we said before, the list of live performances for this year's MTV Video Music Awards seems rather... underwhelming. The list, however, included two mystery performers, who we hoped would redeem the list to true MTV VMA status.

Stereogum predicted that it would be Nicki Minaj, and MTV confirmed the speculation yesterday. Minaj will be the opening act this year's VMA's—her second time after opening last year's show with a badass performance of "Anaconda." 

We still don't know the identity of that last silhouette, but the confirmation that Minaj will open up the show makes us feel infinitely better about the setlist.
