that time avril lavigne brought down the house.

Last night we celebrated our annual Music Issue at New York City's Highline Ballroom with none other than our cover star herself, Avril Lavigne.

Now, anyone who has read our in-book interview with the musician (if you haven't yet, the issue is on newsstands now) would know that she's way more than just the teenager who broke out from the Canadian wilderness with "Complicated." But we've got to be honest: At last night's show every single NYLON editor in attendance was blown away by just how good she is live--yes, even the ones who weren't coming in as Avril fans. And by the time she performed "Sk8er Boi"? Yeah, we were shouting along with her.

Of course, that wasn't the only reason we had a wildly good night; Thanks to Aloft Hotels, who co-hosted the party with us, we also enjoyed the tunes of 2012 Project Aloft Star winners Hits, as well as some crazy-tasty cocktails named after things like, oh, Lavigne's lead single off of her upcoming album, "Here's to Never Growing Up."
