OFF THE COURT

the us open has us re-imagining the tennis skirt.

by ray siegel

Today marks the start of the US Open just a few miles from the NYLON offices. There will be lots and lots of white tennis skirts in view...which is cool if you're Serena Williams, but not so much if you haven't yet mastered your serve. But here's the thing: there are plenty of skirts this fall that take their inspiration from the tennis mainstay, without looking like you just finished one-on-one classes with your trainer. Our favorites come in jacquard, leather, and metallic, so that your look is less tennis-y. But not less sporty. Sporty is good. (Just ask the Spice Girls.)

Pleated jacquard skirt by Kenzo, $465

Metallic skirt by Asos, $127.73

Boucle skirt from Topshop, $80

Faux leather mini-skirt by Karl, $175

Studded waist skirt by Reverse, $69

Metallic Mini by BB Dakota, $69

Jersey skirt by Chalayan Grey Line, $426

Pleated skirt by DVF, $265
