OSCAR BUZZ
and the academy award nomination goes to…
It's hard to think about anything other than the Golden Globe Awards this weekend--how hard do you think Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are going to kill it as hosts?--but this morning's Oscar nominations announcement did the trick. That's right: Before we even know who wins the Globes, we know who is nominated for an Academy Award. And while there were a few obvious choices--yes, Anne Hathaway has a nod for Best Supporting Actress, of course Lincoln basically swept the announcements with 12 total nominations--there were a few surprises. Like: Quvenzhane Wallis, the 9-year-old star of Beasts of the Southern Wild, becoming the youngest woman to ever be nominated for Best Actress. Or: Jennifer Lawrence, who was also nominated for Best Actress--not for The Hunger Games, but for Silver Linings Playbook. Here's the list of the major categories below (the smaller, more technical categories are announced later)--but before you finish reading let us know who your picks are to win. And then, yes, back to Golden Globes talk.
