The Look:

Lanvin Pre-Fall '14

I spent the weekend (and Monday too) in my New Balance 574s, Levi's 501s, and white American Apparel T-shirts, because sometimes dressing like a cool dad is just the palate cleanser your wardrobe needs. But now I'm ready to embrace a little femininity in the form of Lanvin's pre-fall '14 collection. Here's to making a black dress and brogues my week-long wardrobe.

The Face:

Kate King at the Dolce & Gabbana Fall '14 Show

Step two in getting girly is channeling Kate King's perfect makeup at the Dolce & Gabbana fall '14 show. Sitting front row, King had the same makeup as the models who walked the runway (which you can find out how to get

here

). It's just the right amount of woodland nymph to offset a tomboy outfit or a super sweet dress.

The News: Five Things To Know About Pharrell's New Album, Girl

...other than "you will dance to it."

The Inspiration:

Sasha Pivovarova for Prada Spring '06

At the apex of femininity are Prada's spring '06 ads starring Sasha Pivovarova in bloomers and knee-highs reclining on a couch with a kitten. (This was long before Choupette, FYI.) I've always thought that this version of girliness was one I could get behind--a little aloof, very monotone, with just a splash of pink for lipstick. I'd also really like a time when I could spend all day lounging with a cat.

The Song:

"Like Herod" - Mogwai

A twinkling and beautiful prelude becomes hardcore and head bang-worthy at the snap of a finger in this 1993 song by Mogwai. Something to offset all the prettiness I'm feeling today.
