Brace yourselves. With the launch of Rodarte for & Other Stories collection just one week away, the brand released a peek at the full collection before it goes on sale next Thursday.
Lauren and Kate Mulleavy, the designers behind Rodarte, mixed their label’s high-couture-meets-laid-back-California influences with & Other Stories’ masculine tailoring and feminine aesthetic to create the collaboration of the season. As always with Rodarte, you can expect the unexpected, with pieces such as rhinestone embellished sweaters and dresses, metallic Lurex sweater vests, and collared tops. The two worked with colors and surfaces that create a three-dimensional illusion, and textures such as crushed velvet, suede, mohair, and crystal appliques to create the collection of ready-to-wear, shoes, and jewelry.
“We wanted to create a collection that represents the textures of a California lifestyle. The clothes should easily transition from day to night and transform to one’s personal style and individuality. For us, it was important to create go-to staples for one’s wardrobe: a great jacket, dress, skirt, blouse, sweater, shoes and a set of jewelry that are completely versatile,” said the Mulleavys stated in a press release.
With prices ranging from $39 to $425, the collection is a much more accessible version of highly coveted Rodarte.
This isn’t the first time & Other Stories has teamed up with a big designer, with past collaborations including Rachel Antonoff and Clare Vivier. However, we think this will certainly be the biggest hit of them all. Standout pieces include a suede and fur jacket for $395, a leather and suede patchwork skirt for $295, crushed velvet trousers for $125, and sequin leather sandals for $145.
In just a week, you’ll be able to shop the collection online at Stories.com, as well as at their two New York City stores. Click through the gallery to take a look at the collection, in full.
