So here in New York the Citi-Bike program is in full effect and people are rolling in herds on Blue Man-esqe pedal bikes, but meanwhile the W Hotel and a few pals have come up with a program of their own. The hotel chain teamed up with famed creative director Ray Mendez to curate five exclusive skateboard decks with fashion insiders and Iconic New Yorkers. Who are the people that designed these skate decks? Well, do names like Amar'e Stoudamire, David LaChapelle or Cope2 ring a bell? The extremely rad, extremely limited collection of decks are going to be available at W Hotel locations and all of the money raised goes to stoked.org (a not-for-profit dedicated to nurturing the needs of under-served youth in New York City). The hotels will also launch a service allowing their guests to rent the boards for the day. To kick the whole thing off they're throwing a shindig this Wednesday.
