If his debut album In The Lonely Hour proved one thing, it’s that Sam Smith isn’t solely relying on his vocal prowess. In just ten tracks—all of which he had a hand in writing—Smith explores 21st century love and its complexities (from one-night stands to infedelity and heartbreak). His latest video, for his track “Like I Can,” may not directly illustrate these issues in the same way as “Stay With Me” and “I’m Not The Only One,” but rather considers the concept of unrequited love as a communal one. The black and white video shows Smith and a pack of smartly dressed guys dancing in alleyways, trailing fire escapes, and throwing back shots because after all, when you’re feeling a little lonely, the best people to rely on are your closest friends.
