Here’s The First Trailer For The ‘Star Wars’ Spinoff Movie ‘Rogue One’

Starring Felicity Jones

by Ben Barna

Move over, Daisy Ridley. There's a new British brunette who's looking to become the face of the Star Wars franchise. (JK, the galaxy is big enough for the both of you.) Felicity Jones is front and center in the first trailer for the highly anticipated Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. A quick primer for non-nerds: Rogue One is part of a new series of spinoff Star Wars movies that is going to make executives at Disney stupidly rich. That means it is not part of the new trilogy launched by The Force Awakens, and will instead tell a contained story. Said story involves a rebel named Jyn Erso (Jones) who is tasked by the Rebellion to lead a group of misfits in an effort to steal the plans of the first Death Star. (This is all goes down right before Episode IV, which means Luke Skywalker is still an anonymous farmer on Tatooine.)

In the short clip, you'll glimpse classic Star Wars ephemera like stormtroopers and AT-AT walkers, plus striking new imagery like Ben Mendelsohn's white-caped villain (terrifying), and a samurai-style character who will do his best to steal the movie from Jones (fat chance). Rogue One hits theaters on December 16, and if you're new to the Internet, the trailer rests above this article.
