Watch Steve Harvey Announce The Wrong Winner Of The Miss Universe Pageant

Oops!

Steve Harvey had one job. All the comedian had to do as host of Sunday's Miss Universe pageant was announce the right winner. As you've probably gathered from the headline, that didn't happen. Instead, Harvey awarded the title to Miss Colombia, and after a few minutes of her thinking that her life had changed forever, Harvey reappeared to announce that he had made a terrible mistake. The real winner was Miss Philippines, and what happened next will go down as one of the most awkward, cringe-worthy, and surreal moments in the history of live television.

Harvey quickly fired off a series of tweets in which he apologizes and takes full responsibility for the blunder. "I'd like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible." Harvey wrote. "I don't want to take away from this amazing night and pageant. As well as the wonderful contestants. They were all amazing." The Miss Universe pageant has been languishing in pop culture irrelevancy for some time, and new owners, super-agents Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell, have been tasked with making the competition relevant again. Well, this is certainly one way to do it. Watch the madness above.
