swirled tour

the classic paisley print goes from handkerchief to high fashion, then high street.

by jazzi mcgilbert

Come with us for a (very) brief history of the paisley print: The twisted teardrop print was birthed somewhere in Persia and/or India, then went on a 17th century world tour before finally taking its name in Paisley, Scotland. Since then the motif has gone Western rodeo, took a boho turn during the Summer of Love, then as TuPac Shakur's accessory of choice in the early '90s.

For Spring 2012 the look officially went high fashion when head-to-toe paisley walked down runways for Jil Sander, JW Anderson and Stella McCartney. Opening Ceremony has been a fan of the print since their beginnings, using it all over their namesake collabs and marketing materials, including their recent collection with Adidas - which went on sale today. We're fans for life, so we'll definitely pile on the paisley trend this Summer and rounded up some of our fav looks below (including a young designer on Etsy who'll make you really rad custom bandana fashion!).
