best dressed: teen choice awards

Even though the 2014 Teen Choice Awards is an event technically intended for those within the 13 through 19-year-old age range, let's be honest here: even those of us who have left their adolescence behind them (coughguiltycough) can appreciate the outfits that paraded down the red carpet last night.  For one thing, all of our favorites, from Chloe Moretz to Shay Mitchell to Hailee Steinfeld, turned out for the occasion.

This is reason enough to obsess, but even better? The outfits they sported weren't your average award show looks. Instead of rocking crazy out-there couture, everyone opted for much more down-to-earth options, like crop tops and pencil skirts, vintage-inspired dresses, and even fancy shorts (!!). The result is easy, comfy, and totally cute--which, just in time for the dog days of summer, is exactly the inspiration we've been craving.
