The 2014 NIKE Free Collection

Since its introduction in 2004, the NIKE Free initiative has changed the landscape of running (pun intended). With constant research and development, the design team has improved with each new series--from the NIKE Free 3.0 to 4.0, and from the 5.0 into the newest series of collection for 2014, which promises the most advanced sneakers to date. One could say that with each new range the progress grows in leaps and bounds…yes, we are punning. Let's get serious for a minute because after all, NIKE does take running very seriously.

For the latest upgrade in Free run technology, the footwear specialists present Hexagonal flex grooves--because data shows that the foot does not move in a perfectly straight line while running. Even though the body is moving forward linearly, the feet tend to roll slightly when hitting the ground. Specialists at Nike's sport research lab observed athletes, and recorded their insights. The resulting product is a new form that delivers multi-directional flexibility, allowing an athlete's foot to move more freely in all directions.

The ultra light Flyknit upper implemented in this Free collection provides a supportive, contoured fit in the 3.0 and 4.0running shoes. Securing the foot over the low profile sole, the Flyknit upper complements the flexibility of the platform, allowing the foot to move more freely in all directions. Nike Flyknit technology enables designers to micro-engineer areas of stretch, support and breathability, and to seamlessly integrate Nike Flywire support where needed.
