The Arrivals Has Your NYFW Coat Scenarios Handled

No matter what the occasion (or the weather)

by Jenna Igneri

The dilemma of what to wear during the biannual New York Fashion Week is something we’re familiar with over here at NYLON, but fall fashion week, which graces our presence every February, seems to be the toughest to figure out. It’s inevitable that we’ll be wearing some sort of coat, but the weather always seems to be the most uncertain during this one week than it is during any other time of the year Already, this week’s forecast predicts everything from an early spring-like low ‘60s kind of day to an epic snowstorm, which makes choosing our outerwear for the week that much more of a hassle.

Luckily, outerwear and accessories brand The Arrivals has us covered. Their latest spring launches—an assortment of moto jackets, bombers, denim jackets, and more—on top of their winter must-haves are just what we need to help make surviving fashion week that much easier.

Below, see how The Arrivals has you covered in five scenarios typical to NYFW, from sitting front row at the show to trekking through a blizzard.

The Show

When dressing for a show, the trick is to not stand out too much. A sleek moto jacket screams cool, without trying too hard. Pair with a few statement accessories to complete your look without going over the top.

1. The Arrivals, Rainier Zero Leather Moto Jacket, $695, available at The Arrivals; 2. Other Stories, Creased Wool Blend Culottes, $95, available at & Other Stories; 3. Poppy Lissiman, Young Americans Shoulder Bag, $140, available at NYLONshop; 4. Le Specs, Hey Yeh, $89, available at Le Specs; 5. Topshop, Maggie Flared Heel Boots, $140, available at Topshop.

The After-party

The Arrivals duster coat may very well be the perfect party coat for winter weather. The slinky, draped style is elegant enough to wear to any after-party, while still warm and practical for February weather. The best part about it? No need to coat check, it makes a subtle statement of its own.

1. The Arrivals, Erno Rogue Duster, $295, available at The Arrivals; 2. H&M, Pleated Jumpsuit, $39.99, available at H&M; 3. Little Rooms, UFO Hoops, $160, available at Little Rooms; 4. Rebecca Minkoff, Leo Clutch, $75, available at Rebecca Minkoff; 5. & Other Stories, Sequin Pumps, $125, available at & Other Stories.

The Tumultuous Blizzard

Fall Fashion Week hits at one of the worst times of the year, where the weather is totally unexpected. While it’s typically freezing, sometimes it can drop to below-freezing and next thing we know, we have a full-on blizzard blessing us with its presence. Don’t be like the fashion bloggers that still choose to wear sky-high open-toe stilettos in a foot of snow (and likely lose a toe); dress practically instead. Of course, The Arrivals make that easy with their super-chic snow parka, a warm and water-repellent coat that doesn't look like you're heading to Antarctica. Pair it with a sleek pair of snow boots and some extra warm pieces underneath, and voila—you are ready to take on the weather.

The Arrivals, Women's Modular Snow Parka, $695, available at The Arrivals; 2. Uniqlo, Women Heattech Turtleneck T-Shirt, $9.90, available at Uniqlo; 3. Fjällräven, Kanken Backpack, $80, available at Fjällräven; 4. Wilfred, Jallade Pant, $135, available at Aritzia; 5. Palladium, Pampa Cuff WP Lux, $140, available at Palladium.

The Oddly-Too-Warm-For-Winter Day

Just like we can get hit with the unexpectedly bad weather, NYFW is no stranger to surprising us with some weirdly warm and sunny days. While we may be looking at next fall’s upcoming collections, spring is still on the horizon. Why not bust out your favorite new picks for the upcoming season, like a breezy white denim jacket? Add a pair of warm-weather mules and your favorite sunnies, and you’re good to go.

1. The Arrivals, Redux Denim Jacket, $225, available at The Arrivals; 2. Mango, Pinstripe Printed Dress, $59.99, available at Mango; 3. Hieleven, Mini Bucket Bag Blush Pink, $99, available at Hieleven; 4. Poppy Lissiman, Dakota Sunglasses In Cream Marble, $110, available at NYLONshop; 5. New Look, Suedette Heeled Mule, $31, available at ASOS.

The Off (Or Playing Hooky) Day

Eight straight days of shows will take a toll on anyone, so we’re sure you’ll be taking a break here and there. Whether you have only one or two shows, and the rest of the day free, or you play hooky to fit in a hangout with your non-fashion friends or run some errands, it’s your day, and you want to dress comfy for it. A chic bomber jacket paired with sneakers and jeans will ensure you’ll be comfortable to run from place to place, but will still keep your cool in case you have to casually sit front row at a show after brunch.

1. Zara, Mid-Rise Skinny Jeans, $39.90, available at Zara; 2. H&M, Jersey Top, $12.99, available at H&M; 3. The Arrivals, Aero Stealth Bomber, $325, available at The Arrivals; 4. M.R.K.T., Rey, $115, available at M.R.K.T.; 5. Nike, Roshe Two Se, $100, available at Nike.
