The News: Betty Who's Fall Tour is Announced--And the Gig Poster Rules!
If you're one of those people who missed out on seeing indie synth-pop princess Betty Who when she was on tour in your city earlier this year--there's good news for you. The NYC-based musician is coming back this fall as part of her upcoming series of stops on The High Society Tour. Not only will you get to see your fave tracks performed live by the totally cool chick headliner (fingers crossed for "Heartbreak Dream"), but you'll also get to catch sets by her rad openers, shoegaze group Joywave and electro-pop duo Great Good Fine Ok. As if that wasn't enough to get you pumped up for October, there's always the awesome tour poster that Who posted on her Facebook page, which looks like it's been inspired by the best scene in 1989's Say Anything. P.S. Tickets to The High Society Tour go on sale this Friday at 10AM, so set your alarms now, then click here on 7/11!
The Look: Emily VanCamp in NYLON September 2013
One of my favorite cover shoots of NYLON is this one, from our September 2013 issue--specifically this look, featuring an Emporio Armani fuzzy lilac sweater, a vintage-style embellished collared top by Sandro, denim shorts from Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren, sneaks by Jeremy Scott for Adidas, Wildfox sunnies, and a bracelet from Organic Peroxide--AKA the ultimate summer look for any girl who isn't afraid of a little color, and hates when the AC is turned way up.
The Face: Organix Kukui Oil Shampoo
I've always been a fan of Organix products, ever since I first scooped up its Lavender Soymilk shampoo a few years back. Sadly, the brand discontinued the scent, despite all of my efforts (by this I mean, writing on the Facebook wall, begging it to produce it for the rest of time) bring it back. I moved on to the Macadamia Oil scent, and even though it smells really amazing, I needed a change. Now, I am totally addicted to the Kukui Oil shampoo. It smells so good, I want to wear it as a fragrance (So, hey, Organix, if you're listening...).
The Inspiration: Thelma & Louise--Yes, both of them!
Today I implore you all to channel your inner Thelma and Louise [SPOILER ALERT], even though it ends badly for the two best friends, it's more about the journey they took before they got there. Plus, the fact that they decided to end it all together. [SPOILER OVER] From hooking up with a young Brad Pitt to showing jerks who's boss, these two chicks are the definition of badass. Oh, and their high-waisted jeans and vintage shirts are absolute perfection.
The Song: "Dressed in Black" - Sia
When it comes to Sia's new record 1000 Forms of Fear, you can expect everything from her meaningful dark lyrics, to her screechy powerhouse vocals--especially on the track "Dressed In Black." If you haven't yet had the chance to check out the Australian trip-hop musician's latest album, you should definitely drop everything and do it, because "Chandelier" was only just the beginning.
