The new Starz drama The Girlfriend Experience might bear the same DNA as Steven Soderbergh's 2009 movie of the same name (and list him as an executive producer), but it's a markedly different product. While the 2009 version was an experimental art film that peered into the insular world of high-priced escorting, this new trailer for the TV version promises a soap-y narrative that plunges in and goes deep. Riley Keough stars as Christine Reade, a law student who gets seduced by a classmate (Kate Lyn Sheil) into providing her company to rich clientele, which causes her to lead a double life. Naturally, her newfound career leads to more money, but also more, well, you know the rest.
The Girlfriend Experience premieres on April 10.
